Tatford Enjoying Solid Start

The Saint Thomas More Cougars opened the 2010 season with a 31-13 victory over the Sulphur Golden Tors last Friday night. Cougar senior TE prospect Evan Tatford is enjoying his roll on offense and the increased interest from college recruiters.

With Saint Thomas More's impressive 31-13 victory on the road over Sulphur High, Cougar TE Evan Tatford senior season is off to a fast start. After a busy summer of football camps, the "6-5", 230 pound Tatford is focused on his senior season on the football field and in the class room.

"We played a really good game against Sulphur," Tatford stated. "That was a really big win to open the season for us on the road. We've followed that up with two really good practices this week in preparation for our game against Zachary High this Friday. I'm really excited about the season."

Evan was also excited that teammate Sam Scofield received an offer from hometown college UL.

"I was the first one he texted after he was offered," laughed Evan. "He was really excited about getting the offer from Coach Bustle and had been waiting on the Cajuns to offer him. Its great that both of us have offers now from UL and it gives us something to think about."

Has Tatford received interest from any other programs since he last spoke to Scout.com?

"I haven't picked up any new offers, but Duke and Illinois have contacted me and are interested," Evan said. "They both contacted me and stated that they were interested in me, and would like to see some film. I still have interest from Texas A&M, and ULM called and stated that they had been trying to reach me, but didn't have the right number."

What are Tatfords plans for this weekend, after STM's home game against Zachary?

"My dad and I are planning on going to the UL game and watching some of the game, before heading to New Orleans to watch Tulane Saturday night," stated Tatford. "The Cajun's game is early, so we will have time to visit and meet with the staff and then head down to New Orleans to watch the Tulane game at 7:00pm. I'm look forward to this weekend, starting with our game Friday night against Zachary."

The Cajun Redzone will continue to follow Evan Tatford throughout the 2010 football season.
