Pettis Gives Cajuns Commitment

Oxford High's All-State TE Larry Pettis didn't want to wait any longer to make his decision on which college football program he will play for in 2011. Pettis gave the Ragin'Cajuns his verbal commitment Friday morning.

Larry Pettis decided he didn't want to wait any longer to give Coach Hudpseth his verbal commitment to the 2011 Ragin'Cajun's recruiting class.

"I called Coach Hudspeth this morning and told him I was committing," Larry stated. "We were both pretty excited about it and he told me that I was their number one guy on the board. He told me that he would come up and visit with me after the dead period."

The "6-4", 240-pound Pettis was named First Team All-State TE after completing his senior season with 34 receptions, for 434 yards and 5 TDs. On the defensive side of the ball, he had over 82 tackles, 6 sacks and 4 FF at the OLB/DE position.

Tight end is the position that Larry Pettis will play for the Ragin'Cajuns and Coach Hudspeth has promised to give him the opportunity to contribute as a true freshman.

"Coach Hudspeth told me that I will come in behind All-American Ladarius Green and learn from him," said Pettis. "He said I could learn a lot working behind him and that we would talk more specifically about the offense when I come in January."

The Cajuns are still talking to teammate DeShaun McNeal about a scholarship opportunity.

Larry Pettis has scored a 17 on the ACT and maintains a 2.5 GPA in his core. He plans on taking the ACT one more time in January after going through a prep course. Recommended Stories
