Preseason Mississippi Top 45 college football prospect Frederick Moore out of Heidelberg HS (MS) gave Coach Hudspeth his commitment Wednesday afternoon.
Lineman Frederick Moore was on a number of preseason list of the top Mississippi high school senior football athletes during the summer. The “6-5”, 285-pounder had a number of football programs interested, including
Mississippi State
,
Ole Miss
and
Southern Miss
after summer football camps. But now closing in on National Signing Day, Moore found himself with only two serious FBS suitors because of his ACT score. Moore decided this afternoon that he would not wait any longer on any other offers and committed to Coach
Mark Hudspeth
and Louisiana’s Ragin’Cajuns.
“I had two serious offers at this time from ULL and
Marshall
,” stated Moore. “When Coach Stringer told me that ULL was ready to offer me today, I told him I might commit right now. Then Coach Hudspeth called me and said that “he had faith that I could get myself in the position to qualify”, I knew then he was the coach I wanted to play for the next four years. He showed confidence in me and wanted me to come play for him down there in Lafayette.”
Frederick Moore
was one of four defensive linemen named to the WDAM 25th annual All-Area Football Team, totaling 68 tackles and 6 sacks as a senior. He is also a member of Max Preps Mississippi All-Region 2010 All Region Teams, so why has his recruitment slowed down?
“You know I had a better season this year,” Frederick said. “Most of the programs that were recruiting me are aware of my play on the field, so my eligibility is the main reason that coaches have backed off of me at this time. Now I still get calls from my recruiting coaches at Mississippi State, Ole Miss and Southern Miss checking on my academic status, but I want to play at ULL now.”
What has Moore heard about Coach Hudspeth and the Ragin’Cajun program?
“I knew Coach Hudspeth from Mississippi State,” stated Moore. “But I’ve been watching what he has been doing with some of the recruits in Mississippi and seen today that
Trae Johnson
committed to him. They have gotten commitments from some good players and that is one of reasons I committed today to Coach Hudspeth today. I want to be part of the program he is putting together down there in Lafayette.”
