Dutchtown High(La.) All-State RB Effrem Reed has added his name to the list of Louisiana athletes…
Reed Commits to Cajuns
"Once we left the hotel with our player host, I had the opportunity to hang with some of them and talk about the new staff," Reed said. "They all said what a difference Coach Hudspeth and his staff have made. Not only does he push them, but got out there Saturday morning and ran with them. I think any player would love hearing that and would want to play for that coach."
Effrem Reed was selected to the LSWA's 5A First Team All-State offense. He finisjed the 2010 season with 1,926 rushing yards and 32 touchdowns on 271 carries. Reed was also named to the Offensive MVP on The Baton Rouge Morning Advocate's All-Metro team for classes 5A and 4A.
Reed will have the opportunity to play the slot position first once on campus.
"They asked me if I would play the slot receiver position and running back," Effrem stated. "I can catch the ball well out of the backfield or out in the slot. I see the whole field very well and I can make big plays."
Effrem had offers from SMU, Northern Illinois, UL, Stephen F. Austin and state schools.
"I was waiting to hear from Louisiana Tech to visit next week," Reed said. "After visiting UL and seeing the facilities and improvements planned for the future, I decided I wanted to play for Coach Hud."
Reed has met eligibility standards with a 3.0 GPA and 19 ACT score.
