Last Weekend Set for Cajuns

Louisiana's Ragin'Cajuns are set to host a group of between 5 to 7 athletes this weekend, the last calendar days for official visits before National Signing Day.

Coach Hudspeth and his staff are scheduled to host between 5 and 7 prospects this weekend, starting tonight. The Cajuns have two football scholarships available, with needs at cornerback and offensive line. So who is coming in to visit in this last group?

All-State athlete Levander Liggins "5-11", 180 pounds out of Leesville High School heads the list. He finished the 2010 season with 99 rushes for 977 yards (which is 9.8 yards a carry), and 17 rushing TDs. As a WR he caught 54 passes for 1,189 yards, which is 22 yards a catch and 17 TDs. With his total numbers, Liggins ammased over 2,800 yards of total offense, and 38 touchdowns, four coming on kick returns. He was District 4-4A Most Valuable Player and first team All-State 4A Offense as Return Specialist.

Louisiana Tech, Miami of Ohio, ULM, Memphis and SMU have all offered and had in home visits. Levander Liggins is qualified.

Mississippi Natchez High first team 6A All-state defensive tackle Justin Hamilton is also scheduled to visit. The "6-3", 320 pound senior competed in the Mississippi-Alabama All-Star Classic, finished the game with 1 sack and 3 tackles. Hamilton has received interest from Louisiana, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Southeast Louisiana and Southern Miss.

Evangel Christian Academy offensive tackle Octravian Anderson, "6-4", 270 pounds is traveling down from Shreveport. Anderson participated in the Max Emfinger All-American Bowl Classic this past December and was All-District 1-2A. The big lineman is said to have some work to do on his ACT scores.

Water Valley (MS)'s 3A All-State safety Eric Buckley decided to come in and visit Louisiana's Ragin'Cajuns. The "6-3", 195-pound athlete could play safety or outside linebacker at the next level, finished the 2010 season with 85 tackles (61 solo), 1 sack, 3 forced fumbles and 1 blocked field goal.

He is qualified, with a 23 on the ACT and 3.2 GPA

Buckley had interest from Arkansas State, Louisiana, Southern Miss, Mississippi State.

The Cajuns will look to the junior college ranks to possibly fill the last two scholarships available.

Jones County Community College,"6-3",285 offensive lineman Brandon Bender was supposed to visit this weekend, but may not come in because of personal reasons. Brandon, rumored to be a Cajun commitment was a Second team All-MACJC South Division offensive lineman and Region 23 selection.

Mississippi Delta Community College cornerback Jermerilous Moten, "5-11", 175 pounds,is the last verfied visitor scheduled. The 4.4 speedster was a First team All-MACJC North Division and Region 23 selection at cornerback and made was said to have performed very well in the Mississippi Junior College all-star game. Moten fits the need for immediate help at the cornerback position.
