Eric Buckley Talks Cajuns

Water Valley (MS) All-State Safety Eric Buckley committed to Louisiana's Ragin'Cajuns on an official visit over the weekend. Buckley talks about his commitment with the Cajun Redzone.

Water Valley (MS)'s 3A All-State safety Eric Buckley decided to come in and visit Louisiana's Ragin'Cajuns. The "6-3", 190-pound athlete made his final decision to commit before heading back home last night. Buckley could play safety or outside linebacker at the next level, finished the 2010 season with 85 tackles (61 solo), 1 sack, 3 forced fumbles and 1 blocked field goal.

"I didn't know much about the program coming in, but once we got here I knew this was the best place for me," Eric stated. "The campus and the facilities were much better then I imagined when I set the visit and they showed us some of the improvements that are in the works."

Buckley's player host was senior defensive back Lionel Stokes. What were some of the highlights of his time on campus and with Stokes?

"I really like getting out with some of the other guys and spending some time with them," said Buckley. "That was great to hear some of their opinions about the staff and the program. Spending some time with coach Saunders and talking about where I fit in the program was great as well."

Eric had a number of programs interested in him this summer, attending camps at Mississippi State and Southern Miss. UL, Central Arkansas, Delta State , Arkansas State and Arkansas-Monticello have expressed the most interest in late.

"I'm not sure why dome of the other schools didn't show as much interest at the end," Eric stated. "But coach Saunders and UL peaked my interest from the beginning, and this is the best place for me in the end."

Eric has scored a 23 on the ACT and currently holds a 3.2 GPA. Recommended Stories
