Mississippi Delta CC cornerback Jemarious Moten committed to Louisiana’s Ragin’Cajuns over the weekend. Moten spoke to the Cajun Redzone about his decision to play at UL.
Jemarious Moten
was holding offers from Jackson State, Tennessee Martin, Eastern Kentucky and Alabama A&M, but had hoped to play football in D1 FBS division. A call from Coach
Reed Stringer
changed all that for the “5-11”, 175-pound cornerback.
“Coach Stringer called me and asked if I would come down for a visit to ULL,” Moten stated. “I’ve heard some good things about the university and thought it might be an opportunity to play football at a good school. Coach talked to me about what the direction the program was moving and how I could help them on the defensive side of the ball.”
Moten was named to the All-MACJC North Division second team defense after finishing his sophomore season with 37 tackles, 12 pass breakups and three interceptions. The fleet footed cornerback talked about his visit and look at the campus.
“Once we left the hotel, toured the campus and facilities, the school was a little larger then I originally thought,” said Jemarious. “We were able to visit the professors in our specific major and that put me at ease with him. After we met with the staff, then we were off with our player host after eating dinner.”
“
Dwight Bentley
was my player host,” Moten stated. “He talked about coming in from Florida and playing college football in Lafayette, and the experiences he has had playing in the program for the past three years.”
Jemarious sat down with his position coach David Saunders and talked about what to look forward towards once he begins offseason workouts.
“Coach Saunders said that they are going to work hard in their offseason workouts to prepare for the fall,” said Jemarious. “He told me that we will play a number of coverage’s including man, cover two, zone and nickel sometimes. We will also mix it up in the front and get after people. I’m looking forward to graduating and moving down to Lafayette in June to get started.”
