Interest In Murray Picking UP

With spring football right around the corner for state high school football programs, a number of athletes are hearing from college football coaches. STM product, TE Jordan Murray has an early list that continues to grow.

Interest in Jordan Murray began last year during St. Thomas Mores' successful 13-1 playoff season. The "6-3", 247- pound junior was part of a very good TE duo along with senior Evan Tatford (Tulane) during the 2010 football season. A number of college coaches had the opportunity to watch Murray play in person last season, so it's no surprise he has received his share of early attention.

"I've received letters from Texas A&M, Mississippi State, Tulane, Memphis, Tulsa and UL so far this year," Jordan said. "I've already traveled up to College Station to attend Texas A&M's junior day last month and I going to attend UL's junior day on March 19th. Mississippi State has also sent me an invitation to their junior day; I definitely want to make it up to Starkville as well."

With the change in coaching staff at UL, has Murray had the opportunity to meet coach Hudspeth?

"I haven't been by the complex or on campus to meet any of the new coaches," stated Murray. "I did meet coach Hudspeth back in the fall when he came by our school and he introduced himself to me in the hallway and told me that he was going to recruit me next year. We are going to go in, take a look around at the changes and talk to the coaches."

Jordan Murray has taken the ACT already, scoring an 18 on his first take of the test. What is next for the junior after baseball season?

"We have spring football next month after baseball season," Jordan said. "As schools contact me I'm going to look at what football camps I'm going to attend during the summer. At this point I don't have any favorites; we are going to look at all the programs that are interest in me." Recommended Stories
