Jamal Malone made his way down to UL to check the Cajuns out for their Spring Game. The 6ft 4 245lb DT prospect from Jefferson County HS in Fayette, Mississippi took the time to talk to Cajunredzone about his recent recruitment.

Malone is working hard to improve on his junior season and help the Tigers improve on their 7-5 record from last year.

"We are a young team, but we are working on the things that will help us get better next year."

"I am going to be better this year than I was last year," said Malone. "My speed is already a lot better, but I want to do a better job on my technique and shedding blocks. I am working hard to get all of that down."

Recruiting is picking up for Malone and he is getting a steady stream of letters from all over the country.

"I am hearing from UL, UCLA, Louisiana Tech, Texas A&M, Ole Miss, Alcorn State, and Southern University. I know I am going to go to camp at LSU and UL this summer. I really want to get some offers early and end my recruiting early too. Academics and athletics are both very important to me in a school."

Where the Cajuns are concerned, Malone was happy to get down to Cajun Field and check them out.

"I didn't get there until late but everything was great. I really enjoyed myself. I didn't get there in time to find out who my recruiting coach was or see too much but I really had a good time."
