Last year at North Pontotoc(Ecru, MS)HS, Mitchell Cunningham wreaked havoc on opposing defenses. He was one of the only Running Backs in the state to put up over 100yards on the State Champion Lafayette Commodores. Cunningham finished his junior campaign with 1182yds and 13 TDS. This year, Mitchell looks to add to those numbers and to also add a few more wins to the Vikings resume as well. The Cajun Redzone introduces you to North Pontotoc RB, Mitchell Cunningham.

To play running back, you have to have a special skill set. Cunningham describes what makes him such a threat from the tailback position.

"Well first off, I am very strong. I workout every single day. I also go to the football field everyday and run and work on my conditioning pulls sleds and stuff. I am very dedicated to not just being a good player, but a great player. I work hard every single day. Another thing that sets me apart is that I am quick, the times I ran at the combine the other day are the slowest I have run in a while. I am very elusive as well. I am also a student of the game, I know our playbook inside and out. I just love to play football. I am also working hard in the classroom. I have a 3.0 GPA. I took a lot of college prep courses last year to get ready for my senior year."

One thing Cunningham wants to do is improve the Vikings record from last season.

"I think we got a good shot to win 10 games this year. Lafayette is going to be tough, but we will be ready for them. But we have all of our skill players back and we have a chance to be a very good football team."

Cunningham has a list of schools on his radar that he likes a lot.

"I like TCU, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Southern Mississippi, Kentucky, Tennessee, Texas, and UL. I am going to camp at TCU, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, UL, and I also got invited to attend an All Madden Camp in Florida as well."

As far as a decision, Cunningham is going to take his time.

"I don't know, I will probably wait and see what all happens before I make a decision. But if I go to one of these camps and I like the school that might change my mind."
