Remember the name, Charles Heard. While he may not be a house hold name just yet, he will be. …
Heard Joins State Champs
Moving from Houston to West Point was a tough decision for Heard, but one he is glad he made.
"It's just so much different at West Point. They are dedicated to winning and winning state. I was really excited for this chance because I wanted to make my senior year one to remember. The coaches at West Point just seem to care so much for their players. They are always checking on us and making sure our grades are straight. I transferred in last January and got to go through spring ball. I will be in the backfield with another great tailback so we are going to be a force to deal with. The tradition here is unreal. There is no doubt in my mind; we are going back to state one more time."
Heard is a special player on both sides of the ball. He explains the game he likes to play.
"When I am playing running back, I try to be intimidating. I want every single player I play against to respect what I can do with the ball in my hands. On defense I play Linebacker. The one thing I want to do is attack the ball. I try to play with a Ray Lewis mindset. I want to read the play, see where the ball is going, and attack the ball. I am very big on academics. I have a dream to one day own my own business. I want to major in Business and Management."
Several schools are on Heard's radar, and he is going to try to camp at a few of them.
"I like Ole Miss, Georgia State, Alabama, UAB, Mississippi State, LSU, and Arkansas. I am also interested in UL and would really like to hear from them. I plan on going to camp at Ole Miss, Mississippi State, and Alabama. I would like to go to UL for camp as well if I am invited. I plan on making a decision after the season."
Last year Heard rushed for 865yds and 7tds. He also had 50 tackles and 3 sacks.
