Duncan Plans Busy Summer

St. Michaels HS (LA) QB Dash Duncan had a breakout season in 2010, throwing for over 3,200 Yards and 34 Touchdowns in his first year as a starter. The "6-4",210-pound athlete is no longer an unknown to college recruiters and has set a busy schedule for summer camps.

It's not often a young quarterback throws for over 3,200 yards and 34 touchdowns in his first season under center, but that is the resume of St. Michaels HS senior QB Dash Duncan. The Cajun Redzone caught up with Duncan this past weekend at the Denham Springs 7-on-7 Invitational Tournament.

How did you feel about your performance at the 7-on-7 camp?

"I thought I threw the ball pretty well in the tournament, we finished 2-2 on the day. We have only one returning reciever that played varsity last season, so we are still trying to work through that this summer."

What are your strengths and what do you feel need to work on this summer?

"I feel my arm strength and my deliver are my strengths. I've worked really hard this spring on my foot speed, I recently ran a 4.8 forty at a camp. My footwork and speed are the areas I need to work on this summer."

What camps have you attended and what other camps have you set this summer?

"I've already attended camps at LSU, SMU and ULM. I'm going to try and make camps at Tulane, Southern Miss, UL, Maryland, Louisiana Tech, Northwestern State, Southeastern and several Ivy League schools as well."

What have the college coaches told you about your technique and skill set at QB?

"They've all said pretty much the same things; that I have a strong arm and good throwing motion. And that I need to work on keeping my body from crossing at times and my accuracy."

What schools have shown the most interest in you right now?

"Right now, all of the state schools Tulane, LSU, UL, Louisiana Tech, Southeastern, Northwestern State and ULM. McNeese State is the only state school that hasn't really shown much interest right now. I'm keeping all of my options open right now."

Have you taken your ACT yet and what was your GPA this past school year?

"I scored a 30 on my first ACT test and my GPA is a 3.8 right now."

What are you looking for in a college program?

"I'm looking for a good football program, with good academics and that is fairly close to home. I'm thinking about majoring in pre-med,I haven't made a decision yet."

What are your goals for the 2011 season?

"My goals are the same as the rest of the team; to win a playoff game, something that this school has never done and make it to a state championship game in the Dome."
