Big Wells Looking to Impress

Big OL Zacc Wells from West Harrison High (MS) has hit the camps circuit at three SEC schools this summer. Sunday, the "6-5", 307-pound senior was looking to impress that UL staff at the Ragin'Cajuns Elite Camp. Wells spoke with the Cajun Redzone about his camp experience and impressions of the UL program.

"I'd never been down to Louisiana-Lafayette, but they have really nice facilities," Wells stated. "I had met Coach Rodrigue before, so I was familiar with him when I spoke with the coaches after the camp. I had a good time at the camp and was able to work on some things against good competition."

Zacc has attended camps at Auburn, Tennessee and Mississippi State, how did he feel about his performance?

"I thought I did okay, but I could have done a lot better," Zacc noted. "I played defensive end last season, so I'm really just trying to work on technique like my drop step. Coach Rodrigue spoke to me about some things I can work on and I picked up a few things in camp that will help me this season at tackle or tight end."

What level of interest does Wells think he is getting from each program?

"Both Tennessee and Mississippi State told me they are going to add me to their list and follow me during the fall," Zacc said. "I really haven't heard much from Auburn and now Louisiana-Lafayette will be following me this fall as well. Louisiana Tech had came by during spring and wanted me to come up to their camp, but I haven't really heard much from them this summer."

West Harrison returns a number of upper classmen after competing in football for the first time last season. Expectations are much high for this years team.

"Last year we took our lumps in our first year playing with a number of underclassmen," Wells stated. "Now we are returning a large number of upperclassmen and it seems the other teams will be younger this season. We are really excited about this season and it will be our turn to get after a few teams."

Zacc Wells has already taken the ACT once and scored a 19 on it. He finished the 2010 academic year with a 2.7 GPA. Recommended Stories
