Now that summer camps are over and football practice has begun at Cecilia High, D'Andre Dartez is focused on the 2011 season. The "6-1", 195-pound senior recently competed at UL's Elite Camp and spoke to the Cajun Redzone about his camp performance.
The Cajun football program has kept its eye on Cecilia High's
D'Andre Dartez
since the spring. The "6-1", 195-pound senior with 4.48 speed in the forty has attend Louisiana's Junior Day and several other camps including the Cajuns Elite camp on July 24th. What did Dartez want to accomplish in competing at one more UL Camp?
"I wanted to work out at RB and WR for them at this camp," Dartez stated. "I've worked at defensive back in all the other camps and I wanted to show them my versatility as an athlete because that is what I'm going to be doing this year on offense."
Dartez had an impressive showing this summer at the NUC camp held at St.Thomas More, and was named Combine King. D'Andre (cousin of former
Tulane
RB Jamaican Dartez), ran a 4.48 and 4.5 in the 40-yard dash before running similar times at UL camps. What other programs have taken notice of his summer performances?
"I've gotten more letters lately from
Louisiana Tech
,
New Mexico State
,
New Mexico
and
LSU
," D"Andre mentioned. "Coach Hudson (recruited
Montrel Carter
at UL) is sending me leters from New Mexico and Coach Ingram from Louisiana Tech as sent me some lately as well. I should pick up more offers this fall."
While there is no doubt about Dartez's athletic ability, he still have some work to do on his eligibility.
"I'm taking an ACT prep course this month and will be getting some tutoring in my core courses.
Tyren Alexander
(UL commitment) is also taking the same prep course with me. I feel confident that I will score higher on my ACT test and do fine in class. I'm focused on the season and my academics."
The Cecilia Bulldogs will face the Carenco Bears in the Lafayette Kiwanis Club Jamboree later this month.
