Dobbs Takes on New Role

You know the old saying in football, everyone is just one injury away from seeing the field. For Mortimer Jordan Athlete Marquis Dobbs, that has proven to be a true statement. Marquis has lined up all over the field for Jordan HS, and this Friday night he will be tackling a new challenge, Quarterback. The Cajun Redzone caught up with Dobbs about his new challenge.

You know the old saying in football, everyone is just one injury away from seeing the field. For Mortimer Jordan Athlete Marquis Dobbs, that has proven to be a true statement. While the season may not have started the way Jordan HS had wanted, the one constant in their lineup has been the play of Dobbs. He has been all over the field and nobody has been able to stop him.

"I am averaging over two hundred yards of total offense in our games so far. I have lined up at Running Back, Wide Receiver, Kick Returner, Punt Returner, and I even play DB and shut down one of the best Wide Receivers in the state. I guess I am a man of many talents(Laughing). Last week our QB got hurt so it looks like I will be playing QB Friday night some as well."

Lining up all over the field is something that Dobbs embraces. He is looking to get college coaches attention with all the positions he has played.

"I wanted to show coaches that I can play anywhere they need me to play. I am electric with the ball in my hands, but I can also keep the other team from getting the ball. I just want to play football and get an education."

Recruiting has been steady for Dobbs since he attended summer camps, and it remains that way today.

"Its still the same teams, UL, UAB, Wake Forest, Samford, Mississippi State. They are the schools that stay in contact with me. I am still looking very hard at UL. I plan on calling Coach Hud and Coach Stewart and inviting them to come see me play this year."
