Cajuns to Showcase Home Crowd to Recruits

Louisiana's Ragin'Cajuns (3-1) hosts the Florida Atlantic Owls (0-3) in what is sure to be very competitive game, in front of a large excited home crowd. The Cajuns hope to capitalize on the crowd's energy for a win and the excitement of the Mark Hudspeth era rubs off on some of the visiting prospects for Saturday's game.

UL's head coach Mark Hudspeth took to the air locally by helicopter to visit high school football games in the Lafayette area Friday night. While Coach Hudspeth was out making an impression with Ragin'Cajun fans and watching some of the areas top athletes, he is hoping that a few new prospects will enjoy their experience at Cajun Field Saturday night.

The Cajun Redzone has been able to verify some of the top names scheduled to visit UL this weekend, although we expect a few surprises may come in unannounced Saturday afternoon.

The staff is expecting a visit from Destrehan linemen B.J. Singleton (6-3, 245) and Marrick Charles (6-2, 295). Singleton is holding offers from Arkansas, UL, Mississippi, Tulsa, Pitt and SMU. Charles is said to be holding offers from Houston, Louisiana Tech, Pitt, Minnesota, North Texas and ULM. Both Singleton and Charles are considered to be two of the better prospects still available in Louisiana.

The staff has waited on Patterson linebacker Tremaine Lightfoot (6-1, 210) to return from his visit to Houston. Lightfoot visited Houston for the UCLA game, but received no offer from the Cougar staff. Lightfoot is currently holding offers from UL, Arizona State and has interest from Houston, Arkansas and Illinois. Several of Lightfoot's teammates Lorenzo Phillips (6-2, 205) Florida and Trevon Stewart (5-10, 185) Houston, may accompanying him to Lafayette, although both may end up in Baton Rouge for the LSU game.

Edna Karr DB Melvin Davis (5-11, 180) is expected to come in on a visit, teammates Darrian Dyson DT (6-3, 300) and Leonard Washington DT (6-0, 270) may tag along as well. Davis has stated that UL is at the top of his list along with Tulane, Arkansas State and Illinois State. Dyson has offers from Baylor, Cincinnati, Colorado, Louisiana Tech, Mississippi State, Pitt and Memphis.

The staff is expecting a number of local athletes and a few of their commitments to visit Cajun Field. Look for a few surprises in Sunday's recruiting report and chat. Recommended Stories
