Higgins Working Hard

With the class of 2012 starting to take shape for alot of schools, the class of 2013 is already starting to get some looks as well. One of the top Juniors on the defensive side of the ball in the state of Mississippi is Starkville LB/TE Stanley Higgins. The 6ft 3 220lb Higgins has one offer in already and is looking for more. The Cajun Redzone caught up with Higgins about his offer.

So just what kind of player is Stanley Higgins? I really good one.

"Well I play on both sides of the ball. One offense I play Tight End. I am versatile on that side of the ball. I am a very good receiver and can catch very well. I can also step up an block if its a run play. On Defense I am a linebacker. I love to watch film before we play a team and watch for their tendencies. I can use that to read the play and attack the ball. I can react very fast, thats one of my strengths. And when I get to the ball I am aggressive. If I hit you your going down(laughs)."

One of the things that opened alot of eyes this past off season was the Yellowjackets moving down to 5A from 6A. Higgins says that it wasnt the big advantage that everyone claimed it would be.

"I think we are a dominate team but not because we changed classes or districts. We were young and we just grew up and got better. I dont care what league you play in, its still football and you still gotta line up and whip your man. I have accomplished alot of my goals this season. One of the things that I had as my main goal was improve my grades and I am killing it in the classroom. Thats more important then my football goals."

Several schools are paying attention to Higgins football goals, however, and one has offered already.

"I got an offer from UL already. I am also getting stuff from Memphis, Alabama, USM, and Mississippi State. MSU is right down the street and are familiar to me. But the fact that UL is the first school to show me love is big to me. I am always gonna keep UL on my mind."
