Brunson Holding Firm

Ruston High School offensive lineman Joseph Brunson is focused on completing his senior year in preparation for his first year of college football at Louisiana. The "6-4", 295-pound senior has remained firm in his commitment to the Ragin'Cajuns despite all the rumors of possible coaching changes.

"Yes, I've heard the rumors about Coach Hudspeth and I was a little concerned," Brunson stated. "But I've spoken to the Coaches and they said nothing is imminent right now, so I'm focused on working out and getting ready for my freshman season. If things change at UL, then I will have to look at that seriously and consider my options."

With the season over, has Brunson made plans to attend the New Orleans Bowl to watch the Cajuns play on December 17th?

"My dad has to work that weekend, so right now I don't have a ride to get to New Orleans," said Joseph. "I would really like to travel down there to watch them play and the coaches suggested that I ride with another commitment (Zach Tarver), but I haven't spoke to him yet."

Brunson commented on Ruston's loss to Mandeville in the 5A State playoffs.

"That was a tough loss for us," Brunson stated. "They shut us down offensively and we couldn't get anything going against their defense. They are a really good team, I watched them play at West Monroe this past Friday and the game was a lot closer then the final score indicated. The Carencro and West Monroe matchup should be a heck of a game in the dome."

The final word on Brunson's commitment.

"UL is where I want to be," said Joseph. "Coach Lovings will be visiting me at home this week and I will talk more with him then. UL just felt like home to me from the first time I down there for a game. I really like the staff and the school, so that's the right place for me to play college football." Recommended Stories
