With National Signing Day quickly approaching, the UL coaching staff is hoping to put the finishing touches on the 2012 Class. Coach Hudspeth and his staff are coming off a 32-30 win over San Diego State in the New Orleans Bowl, and they are hoping that the heightened interest in the program lands a few surprises on Signing Day.

Cajuns commitments expected in this weekend are South Florida Miami Dade County's Homestead safety/linebacker Christian Hill, "5-11", 200-pounds. Hill was a preseason Top 35 Miami Herald Dade County Prospect heading into the 2011 season. South Dade finished the 2011 season 5-5 with a young squad and Chris Hill the leading tackler on the team.

Breaux Bridge linebacker Tyren Alexander "6-1", 190-pounds was All-District 5-4A Defensive MVP and 4A All-State 1st team defense, recording 43 solo tackles, 94 assists, two fumble recoveries (one for a touchdown), two interceptions and two blocked punts (returning one for a score).

St. Augustine High DB Dominick Jones "6-0", 190-pounds finished the season with 40 tackles and 3 interceptions. Jones was named All-DISTRICT 10-4A was named honorable mention all-state.

Carencro High Athlete Jaylen Nixon "6-2", 230-pounds led Carencro to a 13-2 record and an appearance in last Saturday's Class 5A state championship game vs. West Monroe. As a senior, he threw for 1,120 yards and ran for 1,006 more with a total of 29 touchdowns. Nixon is capable of helping the Cajuns at H-Back, QB, TE, RB and LB.

Catholic High safety Chris Morgan has his share of interest from such schools as Arkansas, Northwestern, Tulane, Memphis and Southern Miss, but the "5-11", 190-pound senior decided he wanted to play for Louisiana's Ragin'Cajuns. The All-District 6-3A athlete is committed to UL with the promise of a preferred walk-on scholarship waiting for him.

Several athletes have agreed to visit and could be possible grey-shirt candidates. Lutcher RB Daniel Taylor "5-8", 180-pound Class 4A All-State selection rushed for over 2,086 rushing yards, 22 TD this past season. The speedy athlete has already visited Louisiana Tech and Southern Miss this month and is looking to make a decision before signing day.

Tulsa DB commitment Johnelle Celistan is holding a grey-shirt offer from the Hurricanes at this time. The "6-2' 180-pound athlete will get looks at the cornerback position on the next level. Celistan received one more visit from Coach Van Malone of Tulsa Friday evening before heading to Lafayette to visit UL.

Miami Stoneman Douglas HS DL Remaine Douglas is one of three defensive linemen expected to visit the UL campus this weekend. Remaine tallied 50 tackles, including 8 for loss and 7 sacks on his way to being named All-Broward County First Team Defense. He also participated in the Dade versus Boward All-Star Game in which he was named Defensive MVP. Douglas is now holding offers from Florida Atlantic, Eastern Michigan, UL and several FCS programs.

Look for the Cajuns to pick up two or three commitments Sunday morning and several others that will be preferred walk-ons or grey-shirts. Go "inside" at Louisiana Scout.com to get the latest on this weekends recruiting news.
