Kelly Raising Interest

Redemptorist HS (LA) LB/RB Jestin Kelly (6'0, 220-pounds) had an outstanding junior year in 2011. The senior athlete has received a hand full of junior day invitations and is looking to attend a number of football camps this summer.

Jestin Kelly finished the 2011 season with a strong performance on the defensive side of the ball, earning All-District Defense 7-2A First Team Linebacker. But the 6'0, 220-pound senior also helped his team at the running back position.

"Most of the schools showing interest are looking at me on the defensive side of the ball." Kelly stated. "I hadn't played running back since my freshman season, but it felt great to help the team on offense. But the end of the season I was running the ball well and I look forward to running the ball more this season."

Kelly's physical play at linebacker over the past several seasons have garnered him interest from a number of schools in the south.

"I sent about 30 video's out thus far, but I have interest from TCU, Missouri, Florida State and ULL," Jestin mentioned. "I'm going to attend junior days and camps at those schools and look at several others as they come in later. I missed junior day at LSU, but I've been to several games last year and I will attend one of their summer camps."

One school that has peaked Kelly's interest is Louisiana's Ragin'Cajuns.

"They are a school that I really have interest in right now," Kelly stated. "I came down to one game last season with one of my teammates and we really enjoyed the atmosphere and the staff. They won a bowl game and you could tell things are different at ULL when we came down. The staff is really intense and you could tell they expect to win."

Kelly has scored a 19 on his last ACT and maintains a 3.5 GPA at present time. Recommended Stories
