Sometimes we have to take a different route in life to live out our dream. When we take that route, we try to outwork everyone and let the world know we are willing to do whatever it takes to get what we want. Thats the case for Northwest CC Safety Demarius Pegues. He is using his time in junior college to show the world that he is a player that an play at the highest level of college football.

Coming out of high school, Pegues took an offer to Northwest CC in order to improve his status with certain teams. Now after taking over as the starter late in his freshman year, Pegues plans on keeping that role and impressing colleges as a sophomore.

"I think coming here has been a blessing in disguise for me. Its helped me grow as a player and a person. Not many people get to go to school and play football with their twin brother. That happened here and it gave me a chance to show the world what I can do against good competition."

So what kind of player is Demarius Pegues? Well, one thing is for certain, he comes from a very athletic family.

"Both myself and my twin brother Demarcus got scholarships to play at Northwest. I am also cousins with Derek Pegues that played football at Mississippi State. I consider myself a hard worker. I go hard on every single play. I am a leader on the field. I like to put people in the right spots and quarterback the defense. I have very good coverage skills as well. I play the ball and can keep up with any wide receiver or any running back."

Pegues has zeroed in on three school's he would like to visit and show them what he is capable of doing.

"I really want to take a look at Mississippi State, Ole Miss, and UL. I am interested in whoever is interested in me but those three stick out to me. I like Mississippi State because of the defense that they run. I would love to be able to play in that defense. Ole Miss is my hometown school. I know a lot about them and would be interested there. UL has one of my best friends Larry Pettis. We always talked about what it would be like to play together in college. I want to go down there and visit them for sure."
