Thomas Hearing From Six

Sometimes you just have to get the ball in the best player on the field's hands. Thats the case with Richard Thomas of West Lauderdale High School (Collinsville,MS). Having played running back and wide receiver, this year Thomas will be the quarterback for the Knights. The 5 foot 11 200 pound Thomas will look to provide a spark for the Knights and help them make a playoff run.

Thomas feels like he can play several positions at the next level. He is hoping that catches college coaches eye.

"I would consider myself an athlete. At running back, I am an all around back. I can run you over and out run you. I have very good speed and the ability to break tackles. Last year we ran the wing t and that didnt work well, so we went to the spread. I am going to play quarterback in the spread. That way I can get the ball in my hands on every play. On defense I played linebacker. But this year I am going to be playing safety. I love that. If a receiver comes across the middle I get to lay him out. I love to hit."

Six schools have been sending mail to Thomas. He has been to one junior day and plans to attend a couple more in the next few weeks.

"I am hearing from UL, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Southern Miss, Alabama, and Georgia. I have been to Ole Miss for their junior day and had a good time. I am going to Mississippi State for their junior day this month. They run the same offense that we run so I want to check them out. I also want to go down and check out the Ragin Cajuns. They have been sending me a lot of stuff. I want to take a long look at them too. No matter who offers me, I am going to take a long look at. I just want to play ball."
