Moss Gives Cajuns Verbal
The (6-9, 240) Moss signed a national letter-of-intent to play basketball at Duquesne University, an Atlantic-10 school located in Pittsburgh, Penn. after he graduated in 2011. Instead of reporting to DuQuesne in August, Moss enrolled in Charis Prep Academy, in Wilson North Carolina, where he played this past season. From press reports, Moss averaged close to 12 points and 9 rebounds per game while in prep school.
In his four-year career at Anacoco, Moss scored almost 2,700 points and grabbed nearly 1,200 rebounds, averages of 19.5 and 8.5 respectively. Moss also is the school as the all-time leading shot blocker.
Moss was a four-time all-district performer, three times first-team all-district, with one Most Valuable Player honor to his credit. He is a three-time first-team all-Vernon Parish selection, along with being a first-team all-stater after his sophomore year, when Anacoco was in Class B.
Moss also added a pair of honorable mention all-state honors the past two years when Anacoco was in Class 2A.
During those four years at Anacoco, Moss helped spark the Indians to an overall record of 83-52 record, with one appearance in the Top 28, that coming during his sophomore year.
Anacoc won the District 4-2A title during his junior year, going 25-6 overall, but falling in the first round of the playoffs.
Matt Moss was also selected to the Louisiana High School Coaches Association West All-Star team, while also being chosen as a McDonald's High School All-American.
According to media reports, Moss had offers from UL and Northwestern State his senior year. He is also had interest from McNeese State and Pepperdine.
Moss becomes the second athlete to give Coach Marlin a verbal this spring, joining Texas prep guard Kasey Shepard that committed in March. UL also has two signees from the early signing period in Alex Andrews Amos P. Godby HS (Tallahassee, FL) and Steven Wronkoski St. Thomas Aquinas HS (Hammond, LA).
