The Atlantic 10 picked up several commitments on Friday, but none bigger than UMass scoring Western Kentucky transfer Derrick Gordon.
Gordon announced the news on Twitter: "THIS WAS A LONG AND HARD DECISION FOR ME...BUT NOW IT'S OVER...IT'S OFFICIAL I WILL BE GOING TO UMASS!!!!....#UMassNation".
Gordon averaged 11.8 points and 6.7 rebounds a game per season for the Hilltoppers.
The UMass backcourt in 2013-14 will feature Gordon and Chaz Williams, making it one of the most formidable in the nation.
The six-foot-two Gordon had a very close relationship with Coach [Derek] Kellogg.
"My relationship with Coach (Derek) Kellogg was huge," Gordon told CBSSports.com's Jeff Goodman. "He's so down to earth and I felt like I could talk to him about more than just basketball."
He will have to sit out next year according to NCAA rules, but will have three remaining years for the Minutemen.
