Cajun's Football Players Report on Wednesday

Lafayette – Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns football program will welcome 105 athletes back to campus Wednesday morning (Aug. 1) at the football complex.

The Ragin' Cajuns were 9-4 under Coach Hudspeth's first year at the helm of the UL program, including an impressive 32-30 win over San Diego State in the R & L Carriers New Orleans Bowl.

The Cajun's return nine starters on offense including New Orleans Bowl MVP quarterback Blaine Gautier, Sun Belt Freshman of the Year running back Alonzo Harris, All-Sun Belt wide receiver Javone Lawson, receiver/return specialist Darryl Surgent and 2011 top newcomer Harry Peoples. The offense also returns four starters on the line, but must replace All-Sun Belt tight-end Ladarius Green drafted by the San Diego Chargers.

The Cajuns defense returns four starters, cornerbacks Melvin White and Jemarlous Moten, and linebackers Le'Marcus Gibson and Jake Molbert. The defense does return a number of lettermen but will be counting on a few new faces in transfers defensive lineman Jalen Fields, safeties Darius Barksdale and T.J. Worthy and linebacker Delvin Jones to fill the void of seven new starters.

The Cajuns also return 39 lettermen for the 2011 squad along with 19 athletes that redshirted last season.

Special Teams will be in good hands with the return of preseason All-Sun Belt kicker/punter Brett Baer. The Cajuns also returns specialist Darryl Surgent, Harry Peoples and Javone Lawson.

The Cajuns will hit the field for their first practice Thursday afternoon at 3pm. Recommended Stories
