Horst Picks UP Offer from Louisiana

Spanish Fort HS Offensive lineman Grant Horst is currently committed to Coach McGee and the UAB program. But the (6'5, 240) senior is still getting looks from other programs including Louisiana's Ragin'Cajuns whom recently offered Horst. What did the Alabama native have to say about his latest offer?

Spanish Fort HS is a 5A power in Alabama that has supplied college football with a number of quality high school athletes over the years. The Toros are off to a 3-0 start to the 2012 season and have a few talented athletes that have flown under the radar, including senior offensive lineman Grant Horst. Horst is currently committed to UAB, recently received a phone call UL offering him a football scholarship.

"Coach Rodrigue called me recently and offered over the phone," Horst stated. "Coach said that they like me a lot and wanted me to come down and watch a game at ULL. Coach Hudspeth also talked to me and he said they would really like me to be part of the Ragin'Cajun program. I plan on going in to visit for the Tulane game next month."

Horst camped at UAB and USA, but decided this summer that the wanted to play for Coach McGee and Blazer offensive line John Peterson.

"I really liked the coaches when I camped there and the type of offense they are running," said Grant. "Coach McGee runs a spread offense and I fit well in that system. Coach Peterson is a good offensive line coach and I really liked working with him at their camp."

While Grant Horst has made a decision to commit early, the Cajun staff was impressed enough by his play recently on ESPN and Spanish Fort battled Daphne HS on national television. What does the big senior know about the Coach Hudspeth and the Ragin'Cajun's football program?

"I know they won the New Orleans Bowl against San Diego State last year," Horst mentioned. "I also know they run a spread offense and play in the Sun Belt Conference. I attended one of their football camps this summer and had a chance to look around the facilities and talk to coach Rodrigue then. I like the facilities that they have and we are going to check out the game atmosphere down there against Tulane next month."

Grant Horst reported that he has scored a 21 on the ACT and maintains a 3.7 GPA in his core subjects.
