Horst Talks Ragin'Cajuns

Spanish Fort HS offensive lineman Grant Horst (6'5, 240) traveled down to Lafayette, Louisiana to visit the UL Ragin'Cajuns as they hosted Tulane for homecoming. Horst, whom picked up an offer from UL last month, enjoyed the Cajuns 41-13 victory over the Tulane Green Wave and the game day atmosphere. The big lineman talked to the Cajun Redzone this afternoon about his experience in Cajun land.

Grant Horst and the #7 ranked 5A Spanish Fort Toros took care of Vigor 38-30 last night and improved to 6-1 on the season with the win. We caught up with Grant Horst Friday afternoon and talked with the UAB commitment about his visit to Cajun Field last Saturday.

"I really enjoyed the game and the tailgating," Grant stated. "The game atmosphere was great and the students really get into the game; We really enjoyed the visit. I also like the coaching staff and feel comfortable with them. Overall it was an enjoyable experience for all of us."

Before the pregame warm-up Grant had the opportunity to meet with Coach Hudspeth in his office. What did Coach Hudspeth say to the Alabama prep athlete?

"Coach Hudspeth said that would like me to be part of the Ragin' Cajun program," mentioned Horst. "He said I could come in redshirt, get stronger in conditioning program and be ready to compete the next year. That's what the UAB staff said to me as well, so that will be the plan wherever I sign."

Coach Rodrigue is Horst's recruiting coach, what kind of relationship does he have with Grant?

"Coach Rodrigue talks me to a lot," Grant stated. "We have a good relationship with each other and I can talk about other things besides football. When I lost my close friend and teammate, Coach Rodrigue came to funeral and we just have a good relationship."

What's next for Grant Horst and will he take an official visit to Louisiana?

"I'm going to watch a game at Samford next," Horst stated. "I'm definitely going to come back to UL on a visit official later. I like the program a lot and my parents think they have a good program and staff as well. I felt right at home there on my visit and I have a good comfort level with Coach Rodrigue."

Grant Horst has scored a 21 on the ACT and maintains a 3.7 GPA in his core subjects.
