The local Ragin' Cajuns in Lafayette are showing serious interest in Jamal Chevis, who isn't ready to pull the trigger with a verbal just yet.
"I've been to two UL games," he said. "One was homecoming. Coach Hud (Hudspeth) has told me to be patient and keep coming to their games, but other than that I haven't really been hearing from them.
"I think UL is going to wait and see awhile before they offer."
Chevis collected an offer from Louisiana Tech and Coach Pierre Ingram in late July.
"Tech is my favorite by far," he said. "They're showing me buku love. I watched their game last week on TV, and I'm planning on taking an official visit in December. That's when Coach Ingram said they host most of the official visitors."
Ingram recently stopped by Beau Chene to monitor Chevis' academic progress.
Nicholls State hasn't offered, although their staff has been in consistent contact with Chevis, who returned a kick for an 85-yard touchdown last night vs. DeRidder.
The senior speedster, who was clocked in the 4.28-to-4.30 range at multiple summer camps, also wants to get in contact with LSU recruiting coordinator Frank Wilson.
