Post Game Quotes from Coach Hudspeth
“I thought our football team is finding its stride. I think it was evident tonight that we’re doing a lot of good things. As the game went along, offensively I thought this was our best offensive game of the year, minus the turnovers. We stopped ourselves with some critical turnovers especially the one that we turned over right after the onside kick. We could have gone up two scores to get the momentum, and then they went down the field and took the lead. If we can take care the football, we’ll win a lot of games. That’s the first game we have won this year where we lost the turnover battle. Defensively, we put our defense into bad positions with the turnovers. They came up with some big stops against a team that is very good at running the football, especially at the end to secure the win. Broadway had another phenomenal night minus the one interception. Pierce ran strong and made some big plays. Fans were loud, big atmosphere.”
On revenge vs. WKU:
“It was big. They have a really great football team, but it was a big win for us because they broke our streak last year. It was the plan all year to pull out the black uniforms for the Western Kentucky game, and I think it fired the players and fans up.”
On final drive:
“We kicked the onside kick because we had to have a three and out regardless. Once we got the ball we only needed a field goal, but we had such momentum and made some big plays. It was phenomenal.”
On turnovers, adversity:
“We are hitting our stride and we have had a little movement on our team. This team has grown a little closer over the last few weeks and you can really see the leadership in the practices and workouts.”
