Holy Cross All-State wide receiver Kevin Spears has patiently waited for colleges to watch his senior film and contact him. With the January recruiting period in full swing, the senior athlete is suddenly filling his weekends with recruiting visits. Go inside the Cajun Redzone to get the latest on Kevin Spears.
The (6'3,190)
Kevin Spears
had a big senior season with 1,060 receiving yards on 60 receptions with 11 touchdowns. His performance on the field earned him First Team 4A All-State, All-Metro and All-District honors, but college football programs have been slow to show interest until recently. Within the last few weeks, Spears have picked up another offer and scheduled three visits for January.
"I picked up an offer from
San Diego State
recently," Kevin stated. "I've set a visit their for Jan.18th, for
Utah
on Jan.25th and ULL on Feb.2nd. I also have offers from Southern, Northern Colorado and Henderson State.
LSU
has also mentioned a possible grey-shirt offer as well, we will see what happens with that."
Spear hasn't stopped there, he would like to set up several more visits for the first two weekends in January.
"I've talked to Coach Jaluke at
Louisiana Tech
and I'm going to set a visit up with them," mentioned Spears. "He is part of the new staff up at Louisiana Tech and is looking at athletes in New Orleans. Southern is also a possibility, they've offered and I may visit them as well."
During the Christmas break, Kevin Spears was able to watch the Ragin' Cajuns in his hometown New Orleans Bowl.
"That was an exciting game to watch," Kevin said. "They have some good receivers and
Terrance Broadway
is a great quarterback; that would be a fun offense to play in. They've won the last two years here in the New Orleans Bowl."
What type of offense would Kevin Spears like to play in college?
"I would like to play in an offense that allows the receivers to make plays," stated Spears."I wouldn't mind to play in an offense that is balanced and likes to run as well, as long as they throw the ball to their receivers."
Kevin Spears stated he has score a 17 on the ACT and maintains a 3.5 GPA in the classroom.
