Former LSU Pitcher Carson Baranik Is a Cajun
Baranik, a right-hander, was drafted in the 41st round of the 2011 Major League Baseball Draft by the Cincinnati Reds but decided to enroll at LSU.
He was an all-district and all-city selection as a senior, posting a 4-1 record with three complete games, a 1.70 ERA in 37 innings and 57 strikeouts.
Baranik received his release from LSU and will play this spring at Miami Dade Junior College where he is project as the #1 starter.
Note the NCAA prohibits mid-term transfers from being automatically eligible in college baseball.
