Cajuns Softball Pops Miss State 9-1

Lamson Park- The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns softball team pounded Mississippi State 9-1 behind another outstanding pitching performance from Jordan Wallace and timely big hits from Matte Haack and Shellie Landry.

Sophomore Jordan Wallace tossed 6.0 innings, striking out 12 batters while giving up one earned one to the Bulldogs on a homerun.

Senior Matte Haack a went 2-for-4 from plate with a homerun and a double, while driving in five runs on the night. Freshman Shellie Landry went 2-for-3 from the plate, hitting her second homerun of the season and driving in 2 RBI on the night.

Wallace has taken over the role of staff ace for the Cajuns this season, going 3-0 thus far, with an ERA of 0.93 and two complete games. She has fanned 26 batters in 15.0 innings pitched, and held opponents to a .204 batting average.

Matte Hack's 5 RBI night was her career best game with the UL program. The Texas native hit her three-run shot driving in Sarah Draheim and Brianna Cherry in the third inning to give the Cajuns a 4-1 lead.

Landry's home run came in the fifth inning, following a base hit to right field by Sara Corbello. Her two RBI in the game give her five on the season.

The Cajuns return to action Friday night at Lamson Park in the 27th Annual Louisiana Classics at 6:00 PM, when they take on Mississippi Valley State. Recommended Stories
