Alexander Will Follow Friends to UL

2013 CB Jalen Alexander (5'9, 160, 4.54/40) of Carol City HS in Miami recently made a decision to follow teammate and UL signee Troy McCollum down to Louisiana to play college football. Go inside the Cajun Redzone to get the rest of his story!

Miami Carol City HS CB Jalen Alexander found himself playing in the 2013 Private vs Public All Star Game on January 12th without an FBS offer. While Alexander's teammate Troy McCollum made his decision later to sign with Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns, Jalen's opportunity hinged on another athlete's decision.

"Coach Saunders came down to the field at halftime of the game and told me he liked what he seen in the first half and would come by my school and talk to my coach," Jalen stated. "Coach Saunders said they might have a scholarship available if a JC defensive back recruit didn't sign with them. Once he signed with ULL, they didn't have a scholarship left."

With no scholarships available, Jalen Alexander received the news he will still have the opportunity to join his friends Troy McCollum and Simeon Thomas from the Miami area in Louisiana this summer.

"I have a good chance to get an academic scholarship with my 3.8 GPA," said Alexander. "I just need to raise my English score on the ACT for the scholarship and I will also get some other assistance through grants. I took the ACT earlier this month and I'm waiting on my new test scores. I want to major in Criminal Justice."

What are Alexander's plans for the rest of his senior year?

"I'm going to come down with Troy McCollum and Simeon Thomas for the spring game on April 20th," Jalen stated. "I want to get a look around the campus and the facilities since I haven't seen it. I plan on enrolling in summer school with the other guys in June and prepair for fall football in August."
