Ellerbee Makes Trip to Louisiana

Strake Jesuit College Prep Tx. OLB Emmanuel Ellerbee (6'2, 210) has been one of those Texas prep athletes that have gotten lost in the numbers of college football prospects in the 2014 Class thus far. Ellerbee is making a number of junior day events this spring and traveled down to Louisiana to check out the Ragin' Cajuns recently in March.

Emmanuel Ellerbee finished a strong junior season with 92 tackles, 63 solo, 3 fumble recoveries, 6 QB hurries and 1 blocked field goal on his way to making All-District 17-5A First Team Defense at Houston Strake Jesuit College Prep. Ellerbee is visiting a number of junior days this spring and decided that he wanted to attend Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns on March 23rd. What were his first impressions on UL?

"I really liked the facilities and the campus was spread out," Ellerbee stated. "I was kind of surprised with the indoor practice facility and the current athletic complex; Coach Hudspeth did a presentation on the football facility Master Plan and they are clearly investing into the future of the football program."

Coach Munoz is Ellerbee's area recruiter for the Ragin' Cajuns, but Emmanuel had to opportunity to meet defensive coordinator Coach James Willis and they hit it off right away.

"I went up to Coach Willis and introduced myself to him," Emmanuel stated. "He pulled me aside and we talked for a while about the program and also what we do on the defensive side of the football in our program. He told me to come to the scrimmage and stand on the sideline next to him while he coached the defense. Once the scrimmage started he would ask me what type of coverage he was calling and what where the assignments of the linebacker in that particular defense. It was really cool that he took the time to discuss assignments and defenses with me during the scrimmage."

Emmanuel Ellerbee also spoke with UL head coach Mark Hudspeth and received an invitation to the June 8th prospect camp.

"Coach Hudspeth had been my main contact with UL through facebook before I came down to junior day," Ellerbee mentioned. "He told me that he was happy I came in to junior day and wanted me to come back to their June 8th prospect camp. Coach said they would come out and watch me during spring football and he would continue to keep up with me during the spring into summer camp."

Ellerbee has interest from Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Texas A&M, TCU and UTSA in addition to Louisiana. What summer camps has he lined up thus far this spring?

"I'm going to junior days at Texas A&M, TCU, UTSA, and probably Oklahoma and Oklahoma State," Emmanuel stated. "I haven't really decided upon the summer camps at this point other than UL, so I'm going to wait until after spring football and see which programs show the most interest in me before I make a final list of camps."

Emmanuel Ellerbee reported that his core gpa is 3.6 and that he recently took the SAT test, but has not received his scores yet. He is looking at colleges that have good Engineer schools.
