Baranik Signs Will Cajuns
Baranik, a right-hander, was drafted in the 41st round of the 2011 Major League Baseball Draft by the Cincinnati Reds but decided to enroll at LSU.
He was an all-district and all-city selection as a senior, posting a 4-1 record with three complete games, a 1.70 ERA in 37 innings and 57 strikeouts.
Baranik received his release from LSU and enrolled this spring at Miami Dade Junior College where he has pitched as a starter for the Sharks.
He's made 13 appearances for Miami-Dade,in leading the pitching staff in strikeouts with 59. He currently has a 6-2 record with a 2.83 ERA and has allowed the opposition only 31 runs (20 earned) in 63 2-3 innings.
Baranik was named first team All-Southern Conference helping guide Miami-Dade to the Southern Conference championship and No. 16 ranking in the NJCAA poll.
