After visiting the UL Junior Day even back in March, Morgan City High DL/OL Darryl Jonson felt the Ragin' Cajuns might be the best place for him to play college football. The big 2014 senior didn't want to wait much longer to make his decision and called Thursday morning to announce his decision to Coach Rodrigue and Coach Hudspeth.

"I decided that UL is the best fit for me," Johnson stated. I'm happy to get the decision over with now and focus on my senior season. I felt really comfortable with Coach Rodrigue and the staff; Coach Edwards and Coach Willis were really straight with me at junior day and talked to me about playing on the defensive side of the football. Coach Hudspeth is a great coach and he has the program going in the right direction."

Johnson was also being recruited by ULM, Louisiana Tech and Southern, but decided he had seen enough after visiting a recent Louisiana-Monroe camp.

"I really didn't need to go to anymore camps," Darryl said. "I feel UL is the best choice for me right now and it feels great to get the pressure off of me and focus on my senior season. I will come back up to Lafayette for the UL camp on July 21st and work out for the staff. The program is not that far from home and my family can come up to watch me play while I'm in college."

Darryl Johnson's is the fourth UL commitment in recent weeks joining Riverside HS WR Lorenzo Cryer, Gulf Breeze Fla. OL Nick Dugger and Miller-McCoy DB Corey Turner on the list for the 2014 Class.
