ASU held UL to just four total yards in the third quarter, helping the Tribe put away the Cajuns with a 21-0 outburst in the second half. Arkansas State sophomore Reggie Arnold rushed for a career-high 225 yards and sophomore quarterback Corey Leonard set a new ASU mark with five touchdown passes, as the Indians rolled the Cajuns 52-21 Saturday night. In addition to his five touchdown passes on the night, Leonard posted a career-high 359 yards of total offense against the Cajuns, completing 17-of-23 passes for 275 yards while adding 84 yards and a score on the ground. Michael Desormeaux led the Cajuns with 74 yards rushing, while adding 100 yards passing. Jason Chery led all players with 101 yards receiving. Desormeaux had a hand in the two longest plays from scrimmage for the Cajun offense on the night. At the 7:43 mark of the second quarter, Desormeaux broke a tackle on a draw up the middle and bounced outside, racing past the secondary for a 64-yard touchdown. Then again with 4:03 left in the second quarter, Desormeaux hit Chery with a play-action pass deep down the middle. Chery did the rest, outrunning everyone for a 64-yard touchdown. For the first time this year, the Cajun offense was held 270 yards total in a game. |
