Lady Cajuns Sign Five

Lady Cajun Basketball coach Errol Rogers announced his first signing class at Louisiana. The Class consist of five athletes, several highly recruited.

The 2008 Recruiting Class for the Lady Cajun Basketball program includes one Louisiana product in point guard Becky Hall of Iowa and Lacassine High, and three Texas products in forward Mercedes Johnson of Houston-Langham Creek, guard Krystal Motley of Houston-Lamar, guard Nicole Morris of Cypress-Cy Fair and San Diego, Calif. guard Michelle Brunker.

Michelle Brunker(The Bishop’s School – La Jolla, CA) 5-9, Combo Guard:Brunker helped lead The Bishop's School to a 21-10 record as a junior with 19 points, six assists, four rebounds and seven steals per game. Ranked in the Top 150 High School Prep Players in the country. The combo guard received attention from nearly 100 Division I programs.

"I wanted to go to a college with a strong academic reputation, play for a coach that needs a guard in 2008 and has built a successful program that has a chance to compete for their conference championship and beyond during my time in school, and hopefully will have a community that supports women’s basketball by going to the games."

Mercedes Johnson(Langham Creek HS - Houston,Tx)5-10, Forward: Johnson averaged 11 points, five rebounds, two assists, a steal and a block last season for the Lobos.A Member of the Houston Cobras U17 Elite Team. The senior was a first-team all-district selection as a junior and led Langham Creek to the playoffs last season for the first time in 18 years.

"Mercedes is such an impact player," said Langham Creek coach Annette Steward. "Teams know when she is on the court because she plays so hard and with so much intensity. She is such a versatile player that teams have a hard time defending her. She can post teams up or cross them over from the perimeter."

Nicole Morris (CyFair HS - Houston,Tx)5-7, Point Guard: Morris averaged 12 points, five assist and two steals a game. Was chosen to participate in the Top Ten All-American Camp which consists of 160 of the top girls high school players (juniors and seniors) in the country. The camp took place in Atlanta (actually Suwanee), GA, July 15th. Nicole is a member of the Houston Cobras U17 Elite Team and 66th rated player at the Top Ten All-American Camp. Had offers from TCU, SMU and Tulane.

Krystal Motley (Lamar HS- Houston,Tx)5-7, Guard: All-District 20-5A as a junior, averaged 11 points a game. As a senior is averaging 16 pts and three assist a game. Lamar High is 2-0 on the season and is one of the top girls basketball programs in the Houston area.

Becky Hall (Lacassine HS,La) 5-3,Guard:Second Team Class B All-State in 2006, averaged 12.6 pts a game for Lacassine HS. One of the top senior girl basketball players in southwest Louisiana.
