A Spring Look at the Offensive Line

Cajun RedZone Contributor
Posted Feb 22, 2008

With what the Cajun football team fondly refers to as “Red Dawn” behind them, preparation has all ready begun for Friday’s first practice and the beginning of Spring football.

In case you don’t know what “Red Dawn” is, here is a brief explanation. As most of Lafayette was in blissful slumber, the Ragin Cajun football team was enduring a grueling two weeks of strength, agility and conditioning in preparation for opening day of spring practice.

The offensive line should be very exciting this year. They are an experienced group of guys. There are no seniors on the line this year but many players with at least two years playing time. Coach Hudson said “this offensive line is the hardest working offensive line he has EVER coached”. Hudson said he will play both starters and backups as every player must earn their position.

As it stands right now for the spring starting at Left Guard will be Jr. Brad Bustle (6-2, 285), backup Fr. Jaron Odom (6-5, 334). Starting at Center is Jr. Chris Fisher(6-2, 280), backup Fr. Kyle Plouhar(6-6, 295). Starting at Right Guard is So. Ian Burks (6-2, 270), backup R-Fr. Josh Robinson (6-5, 280). Starting at Right Tackle So. Jon DeCoster(6-4,297) backup Jr. Brad Bryant(6-5, 280). The Left Tackle position is open and will be filled with one of these three players So. Colin Windsor(6-5, 265), So. Nasser Jamal(6-5, 277) or R-Fr. Kyle Plouhar(6-6, 295). Coach Hudson said that these positions do not necessarily mean this is what the guys will play this Fall.
