Louisiana's Ragin'Cajuns Basketball program is expected to sign a junior college point guard Wednesday, on the first day of the Spring Signing Period.

The Ragin'Cajun Basketball staff are expected to sign former Midland Junior College point guard Ryan McCoy.

Ryan McCoy, a 6-foot-0 guard, that averaged 17 points and 10.2 assists as a senior for Madison High School in Houston originally signed with Tulsa in 2005. McCoy did not meet academic standards to enroll at Tulsa, and later signed with Fort Smith Junior College.

McCoy can play either guard spot and won junior college national titles, first at Fort Smith, Ark., in 2005-06 and then at Midland College during the 2006-2007 season. He averaged 5.13 points, 1.4 assists 1.3 rebounds and .6 steals in 14 games after he missed the first part of the season with an injury. He shot 54.8 percent from the field, 63.3 percent from the line and 53.9 percent from 3-point range.

Ryan McCoy signed with North Texas out of Midland Junior College, but sat out the 2007-2008 season for personal reasons.

Ryan McCoy was the 40th ranked player in Texashoops.com's state rankings after his senior year at Madison. The 6-0 guard was an excellent 3-point shooter on the college level; he can handle the ball and hand out assists while running a team's offense.

McCoy is expected to play the point for the Cajuns and provide a veteran backup for Randell Daigle while also playing some at the shooting guard spot. He will need to pass nine hours this summer to become eligible for the fall.
