| Cajuns Win Game Three and Series Against USA | ||||

Louisiana's Ragin'Cajuns rallied in the top of the ninth to defeat South Alabama Sunday afternoon at Stanky Field. The win gave the Ragin'Cajuns just their second series win in Mobile ever and first since 2000. | |||

The Cajuns (20-29,10-11 SBC) banged out 15 hits and took advantage of South Alabama's season high five errors, but only one of Louisiana's runs were unearned. Louisiana opened its first lead with a run in the third and two in the fourth.Matt Hicks delivered an RBI single to even the game at one,then William Long homered with one out in the fourth. Josh Logan followed with a double, then stole third and came home when USA's David Doss's throw went into left field. Another fielding error led to a run in the fifth and a 4-1 Cajun lead.Chance Harst hit into a fielder's choice before Matt Hicks doubled to left. When the throw came into second, the ball was kicked out of Jernigan's glove, allowing Harst to score. South Alabama got a run back in the fifth when Jake Overstreet doubled in Bunky Kateon, then tied the game in the sixth. Three straight hits-a Clint Toomey double,Doss triple and Jernigan single accounted for two runs and a 4-4 tie. Louisiana regained the lead in the seventh when pinch-hitter Dillon Guillory drilled a ball through the legs of Bohanan at first to score Hicks for a 5-4 Cajuns lead. Bohanan’s miscue was the fourth South Alabama error on the day. Jordan Poirrier later drove in an insurance run for the Cajuns with a pinch-hit RBI single through the right side for a 6-4 lead in the eighth. South Alabama tied the game again in the bottom of the eighth on Ryan McCrory’s two-run double to straightaway center over the head of Logan, 6-6. The Cajuns regained the lead for good in the ninth. With two on and one out, Goulas flared a single into shallow right field to score Guillory for a 7-6 lead. On the ensuing play, the Cajuns went ahead by two, 8-6, on a Hawkins shot to right field. Justin Robichaux shut down USA in the bottom of the ninth tossing 1 1/3 innings of relief. Robichaux (1-0) struck out two of the final four Jaguars to seal his first win of the season. Louisiana returns to action Tuesday when the Ragin’ Cajuns visit the Lamar Cardinals at Vincent-Beck Stadium in Beaumont, Texas. First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m. |
