Louisiana's Ragin'Cajuns visited No.9 Houston Wednesday in a double header, dropping the first game 2-0 before claiming a 4-0 shut in game two. | |||

The Cajuns (40-11, 17-2 Sun Belt) saw their 18-game winning streak sanpped in game one of the doubleheader with Houston, but rebounded for a shutout victory over the host Cougars. Karli Hubbard and Vallie Gaspard paced the Cajuns on the night. Gaspard finished the day 3-for-7 with a pair of runs scored. Gaspard finished 2-for-5 with a run scored and a pair of walks. The freshmen duo of Donna Bourgeois and Ashley Brignac allowed just two runs in 13.0 innings of work, fanning 11 batters. Brignac earned her 10th shutout of the year fanning 10 batters in game two. Donna Bourgeois suffered just her third loss of the season in the first game. She worked 6.0 innings allowing just two runs on eight hits. The runs were the first earned runs charged to Bourgeois in 42 innings pitched. She last surrendered an earned run on Apr. 6 at Florida International. Ashley Brignac worked a complete game in game two en route to her 10th shutout of the season. Brignac surrendered four hits in the game, while fanning 10 batters. She did not allow a walk and only a pair of batters advanced past first base. Louisiana returns home to this weekend to face ULM in the final regular season series of the 2008 season. |
