Seven Cajuns Named All-Sun Belt

The Sun Belt Conference announced their 2008 All-Conference team and seven Ragin’ Cajuns players were named to the list.

Leading the way was regular season champion Louisiana who had seven players named to the All-Conference teams including receiving Player, Pitcher and Newcomer of the Year honors. Senior Holly Tankersley was named Player of the Year and also First Team All-Conference while freshmen pitchers Ashley Brignac and Donna Bourgeois were honored by being named to the first and second teams respectively. In addition, Brignac picked up the most prestigious award for a pitcher as she was named the Pitcher of the Year in her first season as a Ragin’ Cajun.

Joining Tankersley, Brignac and Bourgeois were Louisiana athletes Lana Bowers, who was named first team All-Conference as a catcher, Vanessa Soto, who was named to the first team at second base, Karli Hubbard who was named a second team outfielder and Newcomer of the Year winner, Vallie Gaspard, who was honored as the first team designated player.
