Sources close to the Ragin’Cajun Basketball program have verified that junior guard Elijah Milsap has requested to be released from scholarship to transfer. It is our understanding that Milsap will be granted a release after finals and the staff is assisting in helping the junior find another program. Milsap joined the Cajun program during the 2006-2007 season as the most highly touted signee in his class. The Grambling native started 18 of the Cajuns’ last 20 games his freshman year, earning the Sun Belt Conference “Freshman of the Year honor”. But the “6-‘6 guard struggled during the 2007-2008 season in rotation with talented newcomers Chirs Gradnigo, LaRyan Gary, Travis Bureau and senior David Dees. The emergence of Gradnigo and Bureau offensively further reduced Milsaps minutes, and scoring opportunities on the court. Milsap, clearly frustrated with his role in the program, met with the coaching staff after the season to discuss his future in the Cajun program. Both staff and Milsap came to the conclusion that it would be in his best interest to transfer to another program. The Cajun’s will be welcoming in six transfers for the 2008-2009 season, including four junior college signees. |
