Cajuns Get Visit From Sleeper

After sitting out his entire junior season because of injury, Darius Dunaway has had to work hard to regain interest from college football recruiters. Dunaway is part of a large group of prospects scheduled to visit Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns this weekend.

In 2007, Darius Dunaway, 6-6,245 of Carroll High School, suffered a major setback when he tore the anterior cruciate legament in his right knee during the spring and missed his entire junior season. Dunaway only attended the LSU football camp during the fall, and because he wasn't completely healthy, he didn't draw much attention.

"I really wasn't completely healthy at that time, so I just tried to do my best, said Dunaway." "I knew that I would have to prove myself during the season."

Determined to make up for lost time, Dunaway performed well in his two games into the season. He recorded 8 unassisted tackles, 2 assisted tackles, 4 sacks and 5 quarterback hurries despite playing at 90 to 95 percent. Because of his performance in the first two games, teams started to run away from Darius.

"I wanted to come out and prove that I could play,Darius said." "I still wasn't 100 percent back from the injury."

Dunaway finished the season with 53 tackles, 8.5 sacks,5 forced fumbles,2 fumble recoveries, 11 pass deflections and 1 interception return for a touchdown. But some programs still have concerns about his knee.

"I have received some interest from LSU, Colorado, Ole Miss and Miss State, Dunaway said." "Arkansas State, ULM have both offered me and I'm heading to ULL this weekend. I took my official visit to Arkansas State last weekend and I like their program."

Darius Dunaway has scored an 18 on the ACT and maintains a 3.3 GPA.
