Cajuns Offer STM Athlete

The Cajuns have offered several local athletes already this season; Cameron DeJean is the latest 2010 prospect to receive an offer from Coach Bustle.
It didn’t take long for Coach Fouquier to realize that
Cameron DeJean
was very similar in build to current Cajun and former Cougar
Grant Fleming
. In fact, the “6-3”, 195-pound DeJean is the mirror image of Fleming and is the prototype athlete to play weak side linebacker in the Cajun defensive scheme. Coach Bustle didn’t need a whole lot of convincing, as he pulled the trigger and offered Cameron DeJean last week.
“Yes, coach Bustle offered me last week,” Cameron stated. “He and Fouquier told me that I was the first athlete on the defensive side of the ball that they have offered. I’m honored that they think that highly of me as an athlete and person.”
Cameron DeJean’s father is former Ragin’Cajun defensive end Fred DeJean. Cameron mentioned his dad’s reaction to Cajuns offering his son.
“Dad was pretty happy,” he said. “It’s not often that a son gets an offer and the chance to play for the same program as his father. My Dad still follows the program and has stayed involved has much as possible over the years.”
Cameron spoke about how he fits the Cajun defensive scheme and what Coach Fouquier told him about the defense.
“Coach told me that I fit in the mold of Grant Fleming, the type of athlete that doesn’t have to come out in the nickel or dime package,” stated Cameron. He stated that they are really starting to get the types of athletes they need to run the defensive scheme in place.”
DeJean will be amongst a number of athletes in attendance at the Cajun prospect camp this Sunday, the 7th.
“I will be there Sunday at the prospect camp,” DeJean stated. “I think several of my teammates will be attending the camp as well, I’m not sure. It’s a chance to show them I can run and do the things they are looking for in a defensive player.”
Cameron DeJean will also be attending football camps at
Tulsa
,
Southern Miss
,
Rice
and
Tulane
later this summer.
