Gillum Now Focused On Offers

Pearl River High running back James Gillum's season ended with a first round playoff lose to 4A power Salmen High. Gillum has now turned his focus on the college programs that have offered him scholarships.

James Gillum finished the regular season with over 1,800 yards rushing and 30 TDs. Now that his season has ended, Gillum can now focus on the college football programs that have offered him scholarships this fall. James has five offers in hand currently as he begins to take unofficial visits.

"I have offers from UL, Mississippi State, Northen Illinois, McNeese State and Northwestern State," said Gillum. "Southern Mississippi told me they are going to offer, so I'm waiting on them as well."

Are any of the programs pushing hard for a commitment?

"They all are pushing some right now," Gillum stated. "But I really haven't felt any pressure to make a decision this early in the recruiting process."

Where are the Cajuns on Gillum's radar and just how much interest does he have in the program?

"UL is definately on my list," said James. "This weekend I have a basketball tournament, so I'm heading down to Lafayette for next weeks game against Troy."

Has James Gillum kept up with the Cajuns and the other programs that have offered?

"I try to keep up with all the programs that have recruited me," Gillum stated. "I've followed them as much as possible during the season and watched some of the games on television."

Gillum has decided to play basketball this season, something he hasn't done since his freshmen year. But that won't stop him from taking all of his official visits.

"I really wanted to play basketball since this is my senior year," said James. "I played as a freshman, but took the last two seasons off to focus on football. January is going to be a busy month for me, because I'm going to take all of my official visits then." Recommended Stories
