Butler Gives Cajuns Verbal

Hahnville High wide receiver James Butler became the third visiting prospect earlier this morning, to give the Cajuns a verbal this weekend.

After visiting with wide receiver Coach Daryl Mason, James Butler knew the Cajuns were the program for him. The "6-3", 200-pound senior finished the 2009 season strong with 47 receptions, for 850 yards and 8 TDs on his was way to being named First Team 6-5A All District.

"I was really impressed with Coach Mason," said James. "He told me they wanted to come in to their camp last summer, but I attended the Ole Miss camp that weekend. We had the opportunity to talk about their offense and the things he teaches; it was great to hear him talk about my future in the program."

Coach Rebowe recruited James Butler during the year, but he was helped several of his former recruits already in the program this weekend.

"Pierre Hill has assigned to me on my visit," Butler stated. "He and Javon Lawson both told me they played as true freshman in the program and that Coach Mason will play you if you are ready to play. I know both of those guys and so it was also good to hear them say similar things about this program.

James Butler had not visited the Cajuns during the fall, so what did he think of his first trip in to Lafayette and UL?

"This was the first time I visited and had the opportunity to look at the facilities," said James. "I was really impressed by the stadium and indoor practice facility; you hear things, but I was certainly surprised by the quality of facilities and future plans for growth."

James Butler still has work to do in the classroom to meet current NCAA eligibility standards. Butler is scheduled to retake the ACT test in February, but scored a 17 on his most recent test.
