The recruitment of St. Michael’s offensive lineman has gone full circle in just a matter of four months. But Ruiz has finally made a decision that he feels comfortable with in choosing Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajuns

I took several visits and de- commitment to Vanderbilt, but the 6-4, 280-pound Evan Ruiz has decided that the UL Ragin’ Cajuns will be his home for next four years.

“I choose UL because it felt like home and I really like the coaching staff and athletes in the program. They were patient with me through the process and stayed with me after I decided on Vanderbilt. Coaches Rebowe and Hudson made it an easy decision for me to make.”

Did Ruiz feel pressured and is he comfortable with his decision?

“No, UL was more then patient with me. I’m very comfortable with my decision and now I can concentrate on mid-terms.”

Did the coaches discuss what position or positions you will work at?

“Coach Hudson told me that I will work inside at center and guard. At UL, they like their linemen to learn multiple positions because you never know what will happen in football.”

Evan plans on majoring in Kinesiology, and is preparing for mid-terms right now. So what is next for the big lineman?

“After the Red Stick All-Star game, I have exams and then I’m going to rest. I’ve been very busy with football, recruiting and now mid-terms, so I’m just going to relax during the holidays.
